Been taking a drug for my new illness.
The drug is AWESOME!
1st off, the pill is small and everyone knows small pills are the best. It's called a, "Hypnotic" and I'm not sure why they prescribed it to me, but Holy Crap! I'm glad they did.
Maybe they believe the way the skin on my body is behaving is due to some sort of stress in my life. Well, they may have something there.
My sleep has been better than it ever has been before. My dreams are positive and vivid. Lucid.
Sadly, in some areas of my body the skin peels off in large patches. It reminds me of when I was a kid smearing Elmer's Glue on my palms, letting it dry and peeling it off like zombie flesh.

Today I watched, "Marjoe" a 1972 Academy Award winning documentary by Howard Smith and Sarah Kernochan about the life of evangelist Marjoe Gortner.
As a kid, I was kinda obsessed with Marjoe Gortner. I thought he might be someone to watch in case something awesome happened to the fabric of spirituality. Not sure what I just typed there...
I best remember him in the disaster film "Earthquake" as a psychotic National Guardsman who stalks the superhot Victoria Principal.
Then in "The Food Of The Gods," and "Starcrash."
Here's some video of the Pentecostal child preacher, who was forced into the denomination by his parents.
Parents can be so cruel and evil.

It's been crazy.
I've either picked up a virus, eaten something I'm allergic to, or I'm simply falling apart.
It started feeling like I had a few cactus thorns in me, but it has spread all over my body. It itches and hurts at the same time.
I have bumps all over me. Everywhere.
Horrible.

Here at The Lentz Compound there are only two channels of Tee Vee. This is due in part to the location, lack of cable or satellite line of sight, but mainly because they just don't make shows like, "MacGyver" anymore.
DVD viewing is acceptable as long as they are either Westerns or Hallmark Channel movies. If there is a flashback, voiceover, or some nonlinear element, FORGET IT!
I once showed them, "Fight Club" and heads almost exploded!
I was excited about watching the Oscars, but ABC is not one of the channels, so I shimmed up the antenna and twisted and turned it until ABC came in in near HD quality.
Jon Steward did his opening bit and just as they were announcing their first award, FFFFSSSSSSSHHHHHTTTTT! STATIC!
Image and signal lost!
No Oscars for me this year, I just went to bed.

People are sending me stories, pictures and drawings that would blow your mind!
I've come across some excellent UFO podcasts, thanks to readers of my website and one of them has me throughly caught in it's "tractor beam" it's called, "The Paracast" these guys are REALLY GOOD!
Check them out!

Tarsem, has been a real hero of mine, you might remember he directed, "The Cell" as well as R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion" video. I was thinking about him while I was watching Julie Taymor do her magic with, "Across the Universe."
Here's a trailer for, "The Fall" by Tarsem.
Saturday, February 23, 2008
I'm watching "Across the Universe" on DVD. Donny, my older brother bought it and loaned it to me. I also watched this movie...
Here's a hint or two or more that I used on a friend, so now I will test your skills:
She gets arrested and put in a Thai prison.
She can't ski.
She knows pop culture.
She loves Madonna.
She works in Tee Vee.
Do you know?
WRONG!
It's NOT "Brokedown Palace" give up?
Okay, more:
She pretends to be English, but is in the movie.
She thinks she's fat.
She has two boyfriends.
She has lots of Gay friends.
She's RZ.
Now???
Right!
Bridget Jones! Renee Zellweiger! YAY!
It was the second movie, I hadn't seen it before. I only watched the 1st one not long ago.
It was funny.
There is a photo of Renee Zellweiger in a Hitchcock "Vertigo" remake pictorial in the new Vanity Fair that doesn't ever look like here.

Been thinking of moving back to Los Angeles.
It's just not working for me here. I got a rash. It may be some kind of thing from cutting wood. Or some weird backwoods virus. Or it's just a sign from God that I'm not meant to be here.
Since I've been here I've braved a flood to save some goats, rescued a lost cow, weathered two tornadoes, been without power and internet, slid on the frozen ground of numerous ice storms...
There have been some bad things too.
And some good things, just can't think of them at this moment.

Last time I saw Kanye West in person, I was injured in the process, but that didn't keep me from thinking he was a genius!
Kanye West and Spike Jonze rock!
And while I'm still on Filmmaker Mag, here The Movie I'm standing in line for!
One of my fav podcasts is Indy Mogul and here's Kevin Sites covering it in, "How to Make a Zombie..."
You remember me telling you about the Elvis Impersonator I use to be roommates with?
He sent me this:
Jerome Jackson Rocks Tampa!
YOU HAVE to see it! About halfway through an AWESOME thing happens!

Didn't know he was an actor!
"Harry Houdini was known throughout the world as a master magician and escape artist. Having conquered the stage, he set out to rule the screen, appearing in a series of thrillers built upon his almost supernatural powers. Culled from film archives and private collections, this Kino DVD set includes all of Houdini's surviving films as an actor, rare footage of actual handcuff and straitjacket escapes, and a wealth of historical information. Coming to DVD from Kino International."
Houdini: The Movie Star
Can't wait to check that out!
Here is William Kalush and Larry Sloman talking about their book, "The Secret Life of Houdini."
Saw Tony Curtis as Houdini when I was a kid and knew someday I would be in a straight-jacket!

Heath Ledger was one of my favorite actors and I was worried they might digitally remove him from the films that weren't released yet.
Here's, "The Dark Knight" trailer in LEGOs!
Awesome!
The Terry Gilliam film, "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" was halted when Ledger died. Now it looks like Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell will appear as Heath Ledger's character in unfinished film!
When I first heard this, the person telling me included Dustin Hoffman in the list, but I think he confused, "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" with, "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" maybe.

You know these Hot Twins would be trouble if you were dating one of them!
Twins already have that special secret language, these Two can read each others mind and predict what you're going to do in the future!
I have known a few twins and seem to get along well with them. The ones I've know were funny and mischievous.
My favorite movie Twins were in a few Jean Rollin Films.
Marie-Pierre and Catherine Castel were twins that were scary, funny, sexy and not afraid to do dirty things!
For more info on Jean Rollin!

Don't poke a 155mm round with your rifle barrel!
Four or more of our clever "allies" in Iraq decide to dig out a roadside bomb made of a 155mm howitzer round. Cleverly, they try using their AK 47's to excavate and then...
Well you can guess what comes next.
Vaporized Allies!

I know the car makes the man, but I figure this is the Chick Magnet Vehicle of the Century!
Chocolate Fuelled Bio-Truck
Still, it's fun to take a Heart Shaped Box and put a hole in the bottom of it! Life is like a box of... Oh, forget it.
Now that's, "Moving Forward!"

The Batter Blaster has to be the GREATEST invention I've seen in a long while!
How about Scrambled Eggs in a can? Pumpkin Pie in a can? Stuffed Turkey in a can?
I hope they can make a cookie batter squirting can! I'd squirt that right into my mouth like whip cream!

Been looking at getting a Van, as you know and I thought about something from the year I was born. Good Year!
So I saw this 1963 Ford Econoline and wondered what you, Dear Reader, thought about it?
Jesse James give his Thumbs Up!

Cool New Car!
Maybe in the remake of "Back to the Future" this will be the De Lorean.

I've worked on quite a few commercials, but you know I would do this infomercial in a second!
The Hawaii Chair
I would have loved to been on that set! But my back hurts just watching it.
Who wouldn't like to be seen in the office shaking that ass?

How can this NOT be a good movie?
I get nearly all my culture from Bedazzled!

Started a new job, thanks to a friend from my past. It entails me researching and writing. Since it's sort of a "Ghostwriting" job, I can't say much about it, but it's great and I am a "Writer" now that I will be paid to do it, again!
Much of it is figuring out how certain things are done or made and detailing the steps involved. This is right up my alley as I love "How-to's" and how things are made!
Looking over all the work my coworkers have done makes me wish I had a space, a workshop to make all these cool and great things.
It all reminded me of a time I was walking down around Hancock Park and found a shop this young girl owned where every item in the store was made by her. Even as she was telling me all about it, she was sewing a dress.
Later, with a slice of pizza from Steve's Larchmont Pizza, I wondered what kind of store that had everything I want to make and sell would be like?
Robots, T-shirts, pinhole cameras, Tesla Coils, windpower generators, flying saucers, comic books, DVDs, rockets, telescopes, electric cars and bikes,...
What kind of crazy store would that be?

Drinking from a flask is something I've mentioned before that looks appealing to me and I've been thinking of taking it up.
Reading Hardboiled Pulp Fiction and watching old movies, I guess has done it to me. Those tough guys always had one at the ready to steady the hand after ventilating a guy with lead.
Here the Flu had been going around real bad. I've had it already. I'm always the first. Now my brother picked up the bug. He was in bed and I was in my room reading reviews about a new documentary on filmmaker Derek Jarman when my sis-in-law barged in wanting me to go down to the local gas station to get a bottle of bourbon.
"Really? In this cold?" I asked knowing it was in the 20s.
"He wants to make a Hot Tottie, it'll make him feel better."
"What kind? I don't drink, so I doubt I'll get the right thing..."
"He said get anything but, Canadian, Jack, Ten High, George Dickel, Wild Turkey, Southern Comfort, and no Fighting Cock and not a big bottle." She relayed the info that I knew I would forget.
"Here's 10 Bucks," she adds.
In the freezing cold I drive down to the gas station and inside looking at the bottles, I'm lost. And I look lost.
Two women are working the place and they offer help.
"Isn't it just crazy to send the nonsmoker to get smokes and the nondrinker to get the drinks?" the older lady says.
I go through everything they had that I can remember he didn't want and that leaves me with Jim Beam. I get it.
Back at the house my brother takes some tea, some honey and a couple of spoons of Jim Bean and heats it up in the microwave. He gives me a cup.
It's really good! In fact, I LOVE IT!
He feels better and I feel better.
"I'm going to try it without the tea and honey now." I said pouring a couple of squirts in the empty cup.
Slamming it back, I felt I wanted to spit it out in a real bad way, but took it like the backwoods-man-child I am. My face made strange move that pulled muscle and cramped up.
The two of them laughed really hard, too hard at my pain.
"This can't be the stuff those old guy drank out of their flasks?"
"They drank even harder stuff!" my brother said.
Watching "Reign of Fire" on DVD the other night, there was a scene where Matthew McConaughey, who's been drinking throughout the film from a flask you just know has the hard stuff, passes it to Christian Bale who takes a swig and spits it out screaming, "Jesus! It's water!"
I might need to just do the water in a flask thing.

Every so often I create audio for a Guided Meditation CD I will soon release for sale.
I dig these 5 minute journeys, I've been making them for years. I've got quite a collection.
They each start with me bringing the listener with me down an escalator, down a long staircase, down a wooded path, always down...
Then, I ask a series of questions. Different things for different subjects. Each Guided Meditation has a very specific subject.
I made a new one yesterday called, "The Gold Coin" in it the listener is walking through a field down a sloping hill into a forest with a clear stream.
Washing your face with the cool water you look down and see your reflection. Below your image you can see the rocks and pebbles in the creek. You see a shiny Gold Coin!
As you reach in the water to pick it up you discover under ever rock is a hidden Gold Coin!
Then the questions come. And your subconscious reveals the answers to you.
Well, listening back to this after I had edited the music and sound effects, I fell asleep.
I woke up crying!
Something very emotional was stirred in my dream. I can't remember what it was, but something was worked out. Some kind of breakthrough occurred in me.
Later, I had the GREATEST DAY!
Wednesday, February 06, 2008
Here's an interview with James Lipton the master celebrity interviewer and host of, "Inside the Actors Studio."
I love Lipton (as well as the Tea) and only recently learned his dad was, Lawrence Lipton the author of the Beat Generation book, "The Holy Barbarians."
Also, I learned back in the day, he was a "Mac" who was employed by the prostitutes of Paris to arrange their encounters and to be a translator for the client.
AWESOME!

The most amazing and weird thing happened to me today!
A real life example (I think, anyway) of "The Law of Attraction."
I was eating at Panara, because my brother Donny was buying and we were talking about his theatre background and how I had wished he could have come out to LA when I was doing my Acting Workshop there.
I just know he'd really get a kick out of putting on something he wrote and seeing his words spoken on stage.
I started telling him about me meeting Micheal Holmes when I went to discuss renting the Chandler Studio Theatre and what an influence his work and life was on me at that time.
I hadn't thought or talked about him in months...
Tonight after talking about Michael, I got an email from him about his new work!

I'm in the market for a new bike and I like this one!
I have several friends that are bikers and refuse to let the Oil Guys get to them. They do most of their stuff on their bikes. Going to work. Eating out. Even going to the Drive-In Movie Show!
I'm looking into getting a bike that I can use while I'm living in my new van... (down by the river)

If you've ever had an elderly relative who couldn't control their poop, This is for you.
She's a real, Turd Herder.
I know it's sad, but if we can't laugh about it... Everybody poops!
Just not in the Frozen Food aisle.
If that Black guy hadn't pointed out the plop, that White guy would have slipped on it like a banana peel, and sadly we are all worse off because of it.

I've been reading about, "THE HAUNTED HOUSE IN COCK LANE!!!" and the ghost of Miss Fanny (seriously, Cock and Fanny?) who supposedly died of the Small Pox, but as her spirit told a young girl, "I was poisoned by my husband!"
The book is, "Memoirs of Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds" by Charles Mackay, from back in 1841.
It's got some good stuff in there. They sure talked funny back in them there days!

This Old 1930s House may be Haunted!
This is the house that was mentioned a few posts back and here is the latest email I received about it:
"A few days after I viewed pictures of the house I e-mailed the real estate agent telling her what I saw. I received no response (it's been almost two months ago). I guess ghosts are not a selling point. Thanks again for responding. If you are ever in the Billings area you should check out that house. It is a pretty two-story white house with an attractive yard but lots of work needs to be done on the inside. My husband and I hope to go out there this summer and maybe look at the house. I think if the ghost could talk she might have a heartbreaking story to tell. Also, good luck on your ghost hunt!
Karen"
Man, I LOVE this house and I sure would like to take a crew, spend the night and see if we can find some ghosts there!
