Today is Cinco de Mayo, or as I like to call it, the 5th of May!

I think today I will take part in the celebration by having a margarita at Chevy's. I believe the alcohol will be medicinal. Several of my male Mexican friends have warned me about not eating out today, saying that today is the day those Mexicans in the food service industries like to spit in the food of the white man.

I don't believe it, because they liked to joke around with me, but hopefully the alcohol will kill any viruses.

So many people think that today is a celebration for Mexican Independence in the U.S., but my many years living in Texas taught me that it is all about their victory over Napoleon III French troops.

Just think if those brave Mexicans had failed I would be celebrating today at Le Chevy's.
