I was watching CNN, Fox News and MSNBC today covering the bombings. I hate getting all caught up in it, but I can't help it. I get so depressed.

Then I found out Arab film director Moustapha Akkad died in the hotel bomb attacks in Jordan.

Akkad was executive producer of the "Halloween" films and I met him once and thought he was so cool. I was spending one of my many times walking around Century City years ago thinking about all the movies shot there like, "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes," and, "Valley of the Dolls." This one day I was wearing a t-shirt that had the poster of, "The Wild Bunch" on it and this guy walks up to me and says, "Sam Peckinpah, great man!"

"Oh, so how do you know him...?" I asked as he walked past me.

"He gave me my boost in movies."

"I'm sorry should I know you?" I thought he was very handsome with a great kind face so he must have been an actor.

"Nah... Well, I am Moustapha..."

"Akkad??? "Lion of the Desert?"" I knew instantly before he finished. How many Moustaphas are there in my World?

"Oh my, I was going to say "Halloween" but very good you know this?" he had a huge sweet smile.

I told him "Lion of the Desert" was a big favorite of mine and he said, "One day we'll eat, talk movies and I'll tell you about getting money to make it from Moammar Gaddafi."

He shook my hand, winked and walked away. I never called him. Was too shy I guess.

Looking at the shattered glass of the hotel on TV and thinking how a suicide bomber can walk into a wedding party and do what they do...

I remember seeing Michael Meyers in "Halloween" for the first time and thinking how scary he is, he just keeps coming... The "Boogey Man" just doesn't seem so real any more in this World of real horrors we find ourselves in.
