I just watched, "Secret Tears" directed by Ki-hyung Park.
I am now actively searching out his other work. I really like the feeling his images give me. Granted I was heavily dosed up on NyQuil while watching it, but as the story moved along I imagined the guys from Radiohead playing this film in their tourbus.
Starring Keung-woo Kim, Mi-jo Yun, Hyeon-woo Jeong, Eun-suk Park, Ye-jin Son. It's about an insurance agent who is tired of his everyday life. I identified with him in this film.
At dawn one day, after a night of drinking, he hits a young woman who has no identification and cannot speak. Slowly, he becomes aware of her ability to communicate with him in other ways.
He finds out that she has paranormal powers and after a while he is able to communicate with her telepathically. It's such a dreamy film and the guy looks to be on the edge of tears throughout.
Korean cinema really rocks with artists like Ki-hyung Park driving the car. Watching this film just now on AZN made me not only want to make films, but also I want so badly to be Asian.
Asian now, is the New Black.
I wanted to be Black for so long, but gave up when people like Quentin Tarantino ruined it for me.
Now I want to be Asian with a hot Asian girlfriend. A girlfriend who also is an artist, or hairstylist who has killer skills in making cool clothes out of thrift store items. Maybe she's in a punk band and is a fetish model, but she loves me and would kick your ass hard if you said a discouraging word about me.
Korean girls can be pretty awesome!
