The Watts Valley Wolf Ape pics flood in after Aaron sends me the pic from yesterday. It's that time of the year and folks know that story scares me. When I was a kid I use to be haunted by dreams of a wolf stalking me in the dark forest behind our Missouri farm. Several dreams ended the same way...

I was on one side of this stream that divided the woods and through the thicket I could see this big wolf moving along with me but on the other side of the water. It's eyes were sometimes Red and sometimes Green. I was always scared. It would growl so deep. When I grew up, I wondered if it was me just starting my habit of snoring...

One time, I believed if I confronted the big wolf I wouldn't be afraid anymore. It was crawling and slowly slipping down the muddy bank to the edge of the water. It lowered it's snout into the Black creek and began drinking all the while starring at me.

I believed if I did exactly like him, he would think I was another wolf. So I too crawled down to the waters edge. I began slipping in the mud. I had no traction and was afraid I would end up in the water.

Finally, on my knees, I lowered myself down to the water and looked up to see the wolf looking at me, waiting to see what I would do...

I looked down to drink and in my reflection in the water it was a wolf starring back. I was the wolf, or another wolf. But in reality I was just wet when I woke up and so was my bed.

The picture here was sent anonymously, but the return e-mail address had the word "hunter" in it, so maybe it's real, or maybe some hunter is pulling the wool over my eyes!
