Watched The White Stripes on Charlie Rose talk and then perform. Jack talked about wanting to be a filmmaker and how he used to make TV commercials when he was younger. He said his hero was Orson Welles and that it was sad that with all that Welles had done, that there was no statue to him.

When I think of Jack and Meg, I think about riding around with Aaron in his Passat with every song they've made available playing in his CD player.

Jack seems so effortlessly creative, but also prolific. It's one thing to be creative, but to be able to act upon it without fear is the real gift.

I think of Ingmar Bergman talking in the documentary I just watched the other day, How he used to be paralyzed with fear before he created anything. It was the fear of being judged poorly.

Somehow, great people make the pain of not creating, higher than the pain of being told you've failed.

Bergman said he always had another project going before the reviews came in on the last work. That way there was a distraction from poor news. Nothing is worse than hearing criticism and have nothing going on at the time to pour yourself into...

I talked with my friend Steve earlier and he said that I was not allowed to leave Fresno until I made my TV show, or a Film. Even if a job comes in and I'm hired away, I have to do one of those things.

Some friends are tough.
