Everyone is leaving town for the Labor Day Weekend...

The roads were horrible Yesterday.

This morning at my local early morning hangout... Coral Cafe, It was kinda slow with only old folks who are staying put.

I've gotten to know a waitress there who I think is kind of cute. She's also into Frida Kahlo and art type things. She's very nice and seems interesting. She stayed as well to work this weekend.

At my local Sav-On Drugs store this morning while looking to by a new loofa made with 100% wild boar and nice gal introduced herself and pointed me to the best buy for loofas and sponges. I also checked out the Burt's Bees stuff.

She too was attractive and very friendly.

Things might be looking up for me. Though I still am not going out on any dates yet. I really am just having a blast on my own.

I drove by some yard sales today. Picked up a cool retro office chair.

I'm planning on doing some trendy tourist kinda things, like taking some tours and going to some theme parks on my own. I also found some great secret walking trails from some small press books I found about old Hollywood and Los Angeles.

I didn't even hear about this when it happened but, twenty-one people died in the explosion of a satellite launch rocket at Brazil's Alcantara space center.

The prototype launch vehicle was being prepared for Monday's launch into orbit of two Brazilian observation satellites when it exploded, incinerating the bodies of the victims and destroying the satellites and launch pad.

The space center in Maranhao state was in total lockdown, with soldiers barring entry to all unauthorized people. Journalists were instructed to talk to official spokespeople, while grieving relatives complained of receiving minimal information.

The explosion was triggered when one of the rocket's four main thrust engines was unintentionally fired up. The 36-meter (118-foot) platform where the technicians were working disintegrated.

Can you imagine that? How horrible.

The remains of only two victims have so far been transfered from the wreckage of the rocket to the Forensic Medical Institute in Sao Luis, due to the extreme degree of incineration of the bodies in the blast.

Victims will be identified by their dental records.

Burning up like that and drowning in a submarine are my two big fears next to falling from a high altitude or crashing into a tall building while traveling in a airliner.

A Russian nuclear-powered submarine sank in the Barents Sea this morning as it was being towed to a scrapyard, killing at least two of the 10 sailors on board.

That stuff really scares me. That's why "The Abyss" is one of my favorite scary movies, while others don't seem to find it scary.

Oh, also I can't swim.

There, I said it.

In other things that trouble me...

I can't believe that Letterman has spent 10 Years at CBS. It really doesn't seem to be that long ago, but then Conan's also got his anniversary... Doesn't that mean Jay will be having his celebration soon?

When I see examples of time passing like that, it just reminds me of how little I've accomplished in my life.

WooHoo!!!
